Going Wild for Salmon at the Seafood Summit with the Mayor of Vancouver

The 2011 Seafood Summit is off to a flying start with the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, welcoming delegates to the city of wild salmon.

"Discerning consumers here in British Columbia are passionate about wild salmon," said the Mayor who supported the Wild Salmon People in October by paddling into Vancouver with Alexandra Morton in a canoe skippered by Darren Blaney of the Homalco First Nation.

Sitting uncomfortably in the audience are feedlots full of salmon farmers with Ian Roberts of Marine Harvest, Laurie Jensen of Mainstream (Cermaq), Colleen Dane and Mary Ellen Walling of the BCSFA joined by Nell Halse and Pamela Parker representing East coast salmon farmers.

Lunch will be served soon - there will surely be a riot if BC 'sustainable' farmed salmon is on the menu.
